Rokakai Kumite Session Saturday 13th March Rothwell Church Hall Dojo Fox Street Rothwell 10 am - 11.30 am Anya takes top honours at uk open Rokakai student Anya Millican walk away with 1st place kumite and also a 2nd place kumite at the weekends uk open, Anya also showed great form in kata just missing out on a third place medal.
Jr team take bronze Adam Barkes, Conor Easterbrook and Michael Steele (pictured in order) Came home with team bronze in the jr team event at the uk open, Conor also placed third in his kata group.
Rokakai Team win at Central England Comp Just a handful of fighters attended this competition, held in Wolverhampton but the team still came home with 5 Medals. The junior team took bronze, Michael Hamilton took bronze, Lonnie Kilgallon Silver and Michael Steele Gold. For the Seniors Kevin Course took Bronze. Full report coming soon. Kata Course well attended Last weekends Kata course was a pleasure to teach, Sensei's Balmer, Holland and Penny all applied themselves fully to teaching the Kata required for the next gradings, and with the help from Rokakai Blacks belts students got plenty of good instruction. Huw Williams Takes Bronze
Rokakai student Huw Williams fought at the Northern Open Classic and came away with a third place medal. Well done Huw! Above Members of Rokakai Fighting for the BKA squad: From left - Ben Easterbrook, Lloyd Penny, Adam Barkes, Brian Holland, Conor Easterbrook. Rokakai Members joined the Bka squad in the 4 Nations Tournament over the weekend of the 1st of March. Adam Barkes and Ben Easterbrook both came home with trophies, Adam 1st place and Ben 3rd place. The Bka as a team brought home 5 trophies which for a newly formed team was a great result. The team had a great time away and all gained some great experience. Rokakai Gain two New Junior Black Belts: Ross Callaghan and Lee Griffiths successfully gained their junior black belts, Ross ands Lee were both put through a tough grading and managed to show the skills needed to pass the exam. Ross and Lee have trained with Rokakai for seven years around have their life.

Rokakai win at Kazoku Kai National Championships - Here French alps course We are heading to Montgenevre in the French alps for six days intensive training, the course which is a annual event is held for adults only. We will be leaving Sunday 30th September and spending the week training, to return on Saturday 6th October. Anyone interested in attending should get in touch with myself or sensei Balmer. limited places available. Rokakai instructor picked for BKA Squad: Rokakai instructors and students travelled to Newton le willows nr Manchester this Sunday (5th August) to train with the BKA squad. The sessions are held in order to train and chose fighters and kata competitors to represent the BKA. Lloyd Penny instructor and Rokakai team member was chosen to join the team for a competition in September, Well done Lloyd. Lloyd Penny The next Squad session is to be held on September 2nd at the same venue, junior students who wish to attend should make sure they are at the Rokakai Kumite courses on a regular basis. Rokakai will be once again travelling to this session and I am looking for fighters to attend. Also Coach Brian Bentham will be looking to pick more fighters for the competition in September. If you are lucky to be picked for this team you will have to commit to them and arrange travel to competitions.
