Welcome to my Blog. This is my first attempt at keeping one, my reasons for keeping this Blog are as follows 1. To clearly see my progress in my training as I will be keeping up to date records. 2. To help others with their own training by recording my exercises and goals and giving tips and ideas. 3. To help me reach my own goals, because if I put my goals for all to see then I have to achieve them. 4. I enjoy adding stuff to this site. Goals: I am writing this two days after my last competition. As a team, we came home with a silver medal, which was great but my performance in the individual rounds could have been better. Having a little more mat time than my last competition I came away learning a great deal, learning about myself and other fighters. So this experience has lead me to a long term goal, the thing with achieving goals is to break them down into smaller goals and reach these one at a time. My long term goal is to win an individual gold medal in any karate event. To achieve this I have set myself smaller targets to reach. 1. Lose at least half a stone, at present I weigh 16 stone and want to reach 15 1/2 stone. 2. Improve my fitness 3. Enter competitions on a regular basis I will try to update this Blog on a daily or weekly basis until my goals have been reached. Saturday 18th August 2007 Great finish to a complete weeks fitness training, finished with a evening run. It was raining when I set out, which I love keeps me cool and I don't need to carry much water. 5 mile run started at a easy pace maybe a bit too easy, as about a mile from the end I upped the pace and felt strong. Didn't record my best time but felt really good and one of my better runs in the last month. Running times - Here Friday 17th August 2007 Running today, wanted to take it easy today so went for my 2.5 mile run. Felt really good running it and was sure I was near or beaten my personal best, but when checking the times I was around a minute out. DAM! running times - Here Thursday 16th August 2007 Took my bike to the gym today round trip of 12.5 miles, didn't record my time but it really got my heart rate up on the way home, plus got me nice and warm for my workout. Bench press Clean and jerks Shoulder press Dips Wednesday 15th August 2007 Went out on my bike this morning, done around 18 miles my cycle computer reset when I stopped to cross the 6003, it was around the 15 mile marker then and I added another three getting home. One of the buttons has fallen off and it doesn't work right will invest in a new one when I can. to see my cycle times click - Here. Circuits this evening great workout planning to keep these up and see if my fitness improves. Anna came along with me tonight it helped to have a partner to work with that can push me, even if they do cheat at netball. Tuesday 14th August 2007 I have now been writing this blog every day for three months, I have met some of my goals and then broken them right away again (weight). My goal of improving my fitness has been reached but I still have room to improve. I also need to get some more comp's under my belt after all cant win it if am not in it. Went to the gym this afternoon and had a great session (three days rest does wonders) started with the X-trainer 45 minutes on a hill setting ( 5 minute warm up and it takes you in to a series of peaks with a easy minute after every one). Really pushed my self and got my heart rate going. Next came weights, chins felt good on these and did 50 in five sets, these have really improved. Leg press again felt strong today pushed some heavy weight. Leg extension more of a burn rep to finish me off sets of 20. Biceps ran through the stack of dumbbells increasing the weight with no rest in-between kept going until I couldn't move. Karate join in and had a great session again, plenty of rep work on the pads. Some partner exercises and some kata. really good session. What a day! Monday 13 August 2007 Collected my bike from Corby today, and decided to ride back to Kettering. I have forgot how hard your legs work, anyway got as far as Geddington and my gears started to mess up. So have to phone the shop and complain tomorrow and take it back in for repair. Got to the Rothwell session tonight and the council have decided to redecorate the hall without letting me know, So I had to council the session. Week 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12
