Holland's Training Blog
Welcome to my Blog. This is my first attempt at keeping one, my reasons for keeping this Blog are as follows 1. To clearly see my progress in my training as I will be keeping up to date records. 2. To help others with their own training by recording my exercises and goals and giving tips and ideas. 3. To help me reach my own goals, because if I put my goals for all to see then I have to achieve them. 4. I enjoy adding stuff to this site. Goals: I am writing this two days after my last competition. As a team, we came home with a silver medal, which was great but my performance in the individual rounds could have been better. Having a little more mat time than my last competition I came away learning a great deal, learning about myself and other fighters. So this experience has lead me to a long term goal, the thing with achieving goals is to break them down into smaller goals and reach these one at a time. My long term goal is to win an individual gold medal in any karate event. To achieve this I have set myself smaller targets to reach. 1. Lose at least half a stone, at present I weigh 16 stone and want to reach 15 1/2 stone. 2. Improve my fitness 3. Enter competitions on a regular basis I will try to update this Blog on a daily or weekly basis until my goals have been reached. Friday 21st September 2007 Sprint distance triathlon today, - http://www.netfit.co.uk/triathlontraining.html Decided last night to do it, just to change things round a little. Started at the local swimming pool with 30 lengths (750 metres) took around 20 minutes as swimming isn't my strong point and it is also the first time doing anything like this, so I wanted to make sure I could finish. If I was doing this as a race I would have came out of the pool and straight onto my bike, as it goes I had to walk home and get the thing first. As soon as I got in the door I put on my bike kit and shoved some syrup cake down my gob, wanted to keep the energy up. Used my gym route to cycle, as soon as I got to the gym I turned around and cycled home given me a distance of 11.76 miles 0.66 miles short of the right distance. Got back home jumped into my running kit and went on my longer run of 4.25 miles 1.15 miles longer than the right distance, making up for my bike ride. The run was hard work and I could only manage a slow pace. Started my stopwatch as soon as I got on my bike and stopped it when I finished my run, I then added around 20 minutes for the swim. Total time taken - 2 hours and 13 seconds burning around - 1793 calories Great workout and I would tell any one to try it, as it was really good fun. although I am worn out now. Thursday 20th September 2007 Cardio in the gym today, 10 minutes on each machine, Bike, Treadmill, X-trainer, Stairmaster and shoulder machine (not sure what it is called, has two handles which you keep rotating.) Worked out I burned 556 calories. Joined in with the adult karate session and had a really good work out, focusing on basics and kata, built up a real good sweat. Wednesday 19th September 2007 Swimming first thing this morning 7am, didn't push myself hard done 40 lengths at a easy pace worked out around 45 min's of exercise. Saving myself for my evening session. This evening was circuits, I love this class it a great workout and you can push as hard as you like. class last's a hour and I was worn out at the end. Good!
