Shane Balmer B.A. [Hons] 5th Dan Chairman - Bibliography Shane started training in earnest In the early 1970s and by 1979 he was teaching in Dojos throughout the country. By mid 1980s he was winning tournaments, not only in Kumite but also in kata. Shane retired from competition in 1989, he then studied for a B.A. Honors degree and has studied as Masters level Sports Science. Shane was awarded his 5th Dan black belt in 2006, for all his hard work and effort with karate, He is chairman and senior team coach of Rokakai. Brian Holland is a 3rd Dan Black Belt in Karate, And a member of the present Rokakai senior Kumite team. Brian is also recognized as a holder of Black Belt in Thai-boxing and a Black Belt level in kickboxing. He also fought light-heavyweight boxing and still spars with heavyweight boxers. He is secretary of Rokakai and National junior squad coach. Lloyd Penny 2nd Dan Instructor and Senior Kumite Team Member Lloyd started his karate training at the tender age of 8, training for several years, after a short break for exams, Lloyd returned to karate gaining his 3rd Dan under sensei balmer. Lloyd has continued his training and competes in regular tournaments across the country Lloyd is a member of the Rokakai Kumite team and has also represented the BKA in competition. Lloyd teaches at the Rokakai market Harborough dojo.
